"Anything worth doing is worth doing slowly"
~Gyspy Rose Lee
A belly dancer by "day", and a burlesque dancer by night... could the combination be any more enticing?
How It Began
Miss Scarlet Rose came to burlesque
quite accidentally. One scorching summer night, her belly dance troupe
performed at a local talent contest. While they walked away with the
prize, the real "prize" that
night was Scarlet's chance to watch several local burlesque entertainers
- bold and brassy performances that lit a spark inside her,
which has only grown since that night. She decided then and there that
she wanted to try it herself! With her birthday coinciding with the
next talent show, she was utterly decided.
After
weeks of obsessive costume construction, music selection, and rehearsal,
Scarlet Rose made her burlesque debut at the talent show the very
next month. With cheers and catcalls from her friends, she took the stage
and artfully danced down to (nearly) her birthday suit! The music,
the costume, the dancing - it all came together perfectly, and she was
hooked. What fun!
As the fates would have it, one of her fellow performers
that night (and first place winner) was the fabulous Vienna
Le Rouge - a member of local burlesque troupe, Glitzkrieg
Burlesque Bombshells.
After the show, she approached Scarlet, surprised that this was
her first performance, and enthusiastically invited her to come to
the upcoming auditions that Glitzkreig was preparing to hold. With much
delight, Scarlet accepted both the compliments and the invitation. Scarlet
Rose was invited to join Glitzkrieg
Burlesque Bombshells in 2004, and proudly performed with them into
the beginning of 2005. Scarlet is now enjoying all the burlesque
community has to offer, and is building on her solo experience. She continues
to guest star with Glitzkrieg when the opportunities arise.

How Does She Do It?
(aka, what's her background, anyway?)
Miss Scarlet Rose has been dancing in one form or another her whole life. Currently,
she is a professional
instructor of tribal belly dance, and co-director of
inFusion Tribal Belly Dance, as well as
running her own costuming
business.
Her earlier background includes forays into jazz, ballet, modern dance, as
well as theater and gymnastics. As you might guess, Scarlet loves to entertain,
and has a deep appreciation for creative movement - both in performance, and
sharing with others through instruction. She has found burlesque to be an incredibly
body-positive art form, and a thrilling creative outlet - bringing together
all of her skills and influences in dance and theater, and providing new inspiration
for her love of costuming.
